  • I've added the wiki to the approved spotlight list for February. However it would be good to sort out your uncategorized pages -- they mostly look like wiki organization stuff, but should have a home somewhere.

    What image would you like us to use?

  • Hi, ChrisFo!

    Ideally images should be no larger than 660px, otherwise they'll get cut off on smaller screens ;) I'm taking some time and going through the Data Bank Entries and swapping those sizes over. Chances are, I'll miss some - just wanted to make you aware, though!

    Best regards,

    Raylan

    • Thank you Raylan13 :)

      I noticed this too, but I had no time to do it myself. This is a big help :)

  • I suggest adding a policy on necrobumping (see the Minecraft Wiki as an example) as a number of users are doing it.

  • Okay thx for unlocking. The reason I wantet to edit was because it had a wrong recipe and I am generally changing every recipe template with recipe2 so that's why.

    • No problem :)
      I saw your comment on the page and forgot that the page was protected. Some editors renamed the page to the old name Aluminum Oxide Cristal, but it was actually called Ruby in the game. So, we had to protect the page.
      And thanks for your hard work! Its great to have someone who changes the templates on every page. There is still some work to do, but the beginning has been made :)

  • Sorry for the late reply due to the long holiday weekend. I approved your request, and I'm here to help.

    If you want to use the same font as the official site on the section headings, add this line to the top of MediaWiki:Common.css.

    @import url('https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans');

    To copy the rest of the appearance for the section heading, and assuming you want to keep this image, edit MediaWiki:Wikia.css and change the CSS for span.mw-headline from this...

    span.mw-headline {
        color: white;
        font-size: 90%;
        background: url(http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/subnautica/images/e/ea/MainPageHeader.png) left center no-repeat;
        padding-left: 35px;
        font-family: 'Orbitron',"Calibri",sans-serif;
    }

    to this...

    /* Section headings */
    span.mw-headline {
        background: url(http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/subnautica/images/e/ea/MainPageHeader.png) left center no-repeat;
        background-color: rgba(95, 120, 171, 0.37);
        border-bottom: 2px solid #facb19;
        border-left: 1px solid #3b5773;
        border-top: 1px solid #3b5773;
        border-right: 1px solid #3b5773;
        color: #ade6fd;
        font-family: 'Open Sans';
        font-size: 90%;
        font-weight: bold;
        letter-spacing: 2px;
        padding-left: 35px;
        text-shadow: 0 0 3px #1cbdc7;
        text-transform: uppercase;
    }

    For the table of contents, copy & paste this:

    /* Table of contents */
    .WikiaArticle .toc {
        background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5);
        border: 1px solid #3b5773;
        font-weight: bold;
    }

    #toc #toctitle, .toc #toctitle {
        background-color: rgba(95, 120, 171, 0.37);
        border-bottom: 2px solid #facb19;
        color: #ade6fd;
        font-family: 'Open Sans';
        font-weight: bold;
        letter-spacing: 2px;
        text-shadow: 0 0 3px #1cbdc7;
        text-transform: uppercase;
    }

    Try that and be sure to clear your browser cache to see how it looks. Let me know if you run into any trouble or need help with anything else.

  • I like what's going on with {{Recipe2}}; however, it appears you want to be able to do {{Recipe2|Tool}} to get a result. However, you have to do {{Recipe2|Tool=!}} to get the proper result (if the parameter is not given a value, it is assumed empty).

    I've provided my preferred method of coding the template (rather, I will in a couple hours unless you reply); it's a lot more lower-case friendly, and takes a lot less code than making {{#if:}} for each possible spelling.

    • I think we should go ahead with this. Just someone else can start it off because I'm incompetent. http://subnautica.wikia.com/wiki/Template:DataBank2

    • Hmm, that template has not seen much use. Will I have time over the upcoming weekend to work on it? Maybe.

      New suggestion: fancier links to galleries. What we currently have is For a more complete gallery, visit Article/Gallery.; I think something such as this (powered by that) would be nice (yes, I am self-advocating a wiki I am an administrator on; in my defense . . . I've got nothing. Carry on). However, while it could look cool to have the fancy gallery links, most articles use inventory sprites.
      Any ideas on this?

  • Congratulations on becoming an administrator. I suppose this has been mentioned in the Discord, which I never bother to check . . .

    Anyway, I wanted to say a few things things:

    1. There are some threads, such as Weapons, that do not serve much purpose now and are necrobumped by whoever finds them.
    2. Unless the admins are supposed to collaborate together on all admin actions, you could give my bot the go-ahead. The tasks are as follows:
      1. Replacing all old terms with new ones (unless specifically stating that it's the old term)
      2. Automating categories based on recipes
      3. Whatever else anybody thinks of
    3. Removing your rollback user right (you don't really need it).
    4. Monitoring policy-breaking comments/letting me report them to you.

    Any superb sysop suggestions? Amazing admin actions?

  • On the Bots thread on BippityBop's wiki, I applied, and they said no because there wasn't much of a—actually, I'll just let you read it. Anyway, I'm thinking your big-scale edits (such as "biome -> biomes link") are putting SLSbot out of any possible business—that bot whom I somehow let perform an edit accidentally. You could let a bot do the mass-edits more efficiently and faster; however, if I want SLSbot to become a bot, there are three steps:

    1. I find a good task or two that other users (such as you) aren't tackling.
    2. I get admin approval.
    3. I ask Fandom for a bot flag so that Special:Recentchanges isn't annihilated.

    Your reflections?

    • I didn't mean I'm not allowed to use it because of that edit; rather, I meant that the edit was in contrast with not being allowed to use it. I'm allowed to use it when (or if) my application to the admin team is successful.
