Crab Claw Kelp is a flora species found growing exclusively in Lost River's Bone Fields and Ghost Canyon, protruding upwards out of the brine pools.

Appearance

The lower portion of Crab Claw Kelp has a wood-like texture and is dark grey in color, further up it is light brown in color, then a dull purple. Bioluminescent cyan spots speckle the purple section. The branching protrusions at the top of the plant share this cyan coloration.

Data Bank Entry

CrabClawKelpEncy

A blue-tipped kelp species which tends to grow in or near to acidic brine pools on the ocean floor. These brine pools are hazardous to most lifeforms, however the crab claw has adapted by developing a thick, inflexible root system which can withstand the environment, and which raises the sensitive blue feeding nodules above the level of the brine.
